Zhinvali Reservoir
Ringed by mountains, the Zhinvali reservoir is one of the finest views on the Georgian Military Road. The colour of the water, the wooded shores and the open space make a pleasant photo stop.
Stop 2
Ananuri Fortress
Standing by the Zhinvali reservoir, Ananuri combines a fortress with its churches. Walls, towers and stone carving introduce you to the history of the Aragvi valley.
Stop 3
The Gudauri Panoramic Viewpoint
From the Gudauri viewpoint the slopes of the Caucasus and deep gorges open up. The mosaic-decorated structure gives the mountain landscape a striking frame.
Stop 4
Stepantsminda
Set in the Tergi valley, Stepantsminda is the main settlement for journeys to Mount Kazbek and Gergeti Trinity. Surrounded by mountains, it introduces you to everyday life in Khevi.
Stop 5
Gergeti Trinity Church
Rising above Stepantsminda, Gergeti Trinity is one of Georgia's most recognisable views. The stone church, the mountain slopes and Mount Kazbek make an exceptional panorama.
Stop 6
The Dariali Gorge
At Dariali the Tergi flows between the sheer cliffs of the Caucasus. The gorge's dramatic relief and the setting of this historic road show you the scale of Khevi's nature.
Stop 7
A Traditional Mountain Dinner
At the end of the mountain tour you sit down to a local table and taste traditional dishes. Dinner becomes a pleasant gathering to share the day's discoveries.
