Stop 1
Gelati Monastery
Gelati is a major centre of Georgian culture and spiritual life. The monastery's architecture, mosaics and frescoes draw you into the world of medieval art.
Stop 2
Prometheus Cave
Prometheus Cave holds underground halls, stalactites and stalagmites. A lit path leads you through forms and spaces shaped by nature alone.
Stop 3
Bagrati Cathedral
Rising on Ukimerioni hill, Bagrati Cathedral is one of Kutaisi's main symbols. From its grounds a panorama of the city and the Rioni valley opens up.
Stop 4
An Imeretian Family Cellar
At a family marani you get to know Imeretian winemaking through your host's own account. Local wine and a family setting bring you closer to the character of the region.
Stop 5
Motsameta Monastery
Motsameta Monastery sits on a wooded cliff above the Tskaltsitela gorge. Seen from the churchyard, the river and the mountain slopes give the place a setting of its own.
